From Green Aspirations to Greener Actions
Climate change poses an immediate threat to our world today. In Sarawak, we experience climate change through rising sea levels, extreme temperatures, and turbulent weather conditions.
To do its part in the mitigation of climate change, the Sarawak state government has enacted legislation to reduce carbon emissions via carbon and nature ventures. This legislation forms the foundation of Sarawak’s strategic plan to transition to a robust, innovative, and sustainable green economy.
Taking the lead from the state government’s efforts, we at SaraCarbon have also embarked on our own journey of carbon management and carbon emissions reduction.
Our carbon journey
Our carbon journey, a testament to our unwavering commitment to environmental responsibility, has taken us through several years of challenging yet enriching, transparent engagement with key stakeholders. Through SaraCarbon, our initiative supports Sarawak’s green economy framework and its pledge to achieve carbon neutrality.
In time, SaraCarbon will encompass several key parcels of nature-based solutions, all founded on the cornerstone that protecting, maintaining, restoring, and increasing forest cover benefits everyone.

Nature-based solutions
Managed sustainably, forests are cradles of biodiversity and powerful forces for sequestering carbon dioxide to mitigate climate change. As Sarawak has the largest forest cover in Malaysia, we have an ideal opportunity to protect and regenerate forests, thus regulating ecosystems and promoting biodiversity. Carbon sequestration from these forests can then be used to generate certified carbon credits. The revenue generated from monetized carbon credits can, in turn, be reinvested for the sustainable development of communities and other stakeholders, while also facilitating the continued preservation of our natural forests.
Our nature-based solutions are an effective means to preserve Sarawak’s natural forests and promote sustainable economic growth, thereby driving key environmental, social, and economic benefits in Sarawak, for Sarawak. By actively contributing to the state’s key carbon initiatives, we hope to help position Sarawak as a leading player in carbon offsetting activities. Together, we can make a real difference.

Our vision is to be a producer of high-quality nature-based carbon credits and an instrument of positive change in the transition towards a sustainable and innovative green economy. We aim to inspire and lead by example, encouraging thriving biodiversity via carbon and nature ventures, both in Sarawak and beyond.
MISSION
SaraCarbon’s mission is proactive, as we partner with stakeholders, both in Sarawak and beyond, in their transition to a green economy and reduce carbon emissions by:
- Catalyzing the protection and preservation of natural habitats and environment
- Managing diverse natural resources sustainably
- Improving livelihoods and safeguarding the environment by collaborating with stakeholders in an inclusive manner
- Empowering local communities by providing economic or employment opportunities, thereby ensuring food security for indigenous communities
- Enhancing social, economic, and ecological resilience in the face of changing climate and land use
